Kathy Wabick

Episode 17 with Kathy Wabick

Today’s show delves deeper into the benefits of praying for the sick and dying, especially recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet.  By doing this we seek the mercy of Jesus in saving the souls of those departing this life and entering eternal life.

God and souls

St. Faustina had a great love for the dying.

Jesus told her if she prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet at the bedside of a dying person, He would be there as the Merciful Savior and not a Just Judge.

In 1999 we asked Pope Saint John Paul II if one had to be at the bedside for the promises to hold and he said no.

Get your papal blessing!

In 1999, Pope John Paul II signed a Papal Blessing for those praying the Chaplet during Eucharistic Adoration for those sick and dying in that hour of prayer. You must get your Pastor's permission, and we ask that the blessing be hung or displayed in your chapel during Eucharistic Adoration. Please call EADM at toll free (813) 677-9900 to obtain a copy.

A mystical event

Kathy Wabick, our interviewee, shares her mother's mystical experience on her deathbed.

3 hours prior to death, she woke from her coma, asking Kathy to write down what she was witnessing… Heaven, its beauty and gifts.  Because of this witness Kathy started her ministry, Disciples of Divine Mercy and the Holy Face of Jesus. In this ministry, volunteers pray at the bedside of the dying which is a beautiful ministry requiring prayer and gratitude for the ability to be present.

Ready for difficult work

Kathy emphasized that one must be "prayed up" and ready for spiritual battle as this is difficult work; she elaborates on the unfathomable mercy of God and how this is a beautiful work of mercy. She hopes that this work can be started in other dioceses as well.

Visit holyfaceministry.com, or email the Disciples of Divine Mercy and the Holy Face of Jesus for more information on her work.

In this interview Kathy Wabick discusses her mother’s death and the ministry of praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the dying at the bedside, and Dr. Thatcher discusses the papal Blessing from St. Pope JP II regarding praying the Chaplet for the sick and dying during eucharistic Adoration and how to obtain a copy for your Adoration Chapel.
